Final Fantasy Tactics (Square Millennium Collection)
Squaresoft2000Japan

The Final Fantasy Tactics Square Millennium Collection is the only Final Fantasy that made it into Squaresoft's prestige reissue line, and it earned every inch of shelf space. Released in 2000 as part of the Japan-only Millennium Collection wave, this premium PS1 set packs the original Final Fantasy Tactics with a Zodiac Clock (an actual quartz table clock branded for the game) and the Final Fantasy Tactics Character & Job Playing Cards, a full deck of artwork featuring every job and character from Ivalice.

FFT is the tactical RPG nothing has ever fully replaced. Yasumi Matsuno at the wheel. Hitoshi Sakimoto on the music. The Zodiac job system. Political betrayal, religious conspiracy, and Cidolfas Orlandu walking on screen to ruin every encounter for the rest of the game. We've all replayed the rooftop scene. Most of us can quote it.

The Zodiac Clock is the bonus that justifies the whole set on its own. A working quartz clock branded around the in-game Zodiac stones, the actual MacGuffins that drive the plot. It's the rare collector item that's both display and in-universe authentic, a piece of Ivalice you can put on a shelf and check the time on.

The playing cards earn their keep too. Every job class illustrated, every major character represented, the kind of artwork that only existed inside the manual until this set came out.

Japanese exclusive, never reprinted, never crossing the ocean. For FFT collectors, it's the gold standard. For Final Fantasy completists, it's the only Final Fantasy entry in the entire Millennium Collection. That alone makes it the missing link.
