Xenogears - Fei Fong Wong ver. (Square Millennium Collection)

The Xenogears Fei Fong Wong ver. Square Millennium Collection is the Bart shelf piece you've been hunting. Squaresoft's Japan-only Millennium Collection split Xenogears across two boxes, and this is the first one, Disc 1 paired with a Bart figure and a Fei minifigure in the signature Square branded outer.

Xenogears was Tetsuya Takahashi's gnostic mecha epic, the JRPG that asked you to read Jung, Nietzsche, and Lacan between random encounters. Fei. Elly. Citan. Bart the pirate king with the eye patch. Krelian. Deus. The kind of game where Disc 2 turns into a visual novel and somehow that's the best part. We've all written essays about this game. Some of us have published them.

The split-disc Millennium release is the unique sell. Squaresoft gave Xenogears two collector sets, one named for each protagonist. This is Fei Fong Wong ver., the Bart edition. The figures in this set are not the same as the figures in the Elehayym Van Houten version, which means owning just one is owning half the picture.

Bart figure as the headliner is a choice. Squaresoft could have given us another Fei figure. Instead they leaned into the supporting cast, and now Bart, the boy pirate with the chain whip and Andvari, has his own collector statue. The Fei minifigure rides shotgun.

Series 3, released November 30, 2000. Japan exclusive. The full Xenogears Millennium chapter takes both this set and the Elehayym Van Houten ver. The completist play is owning the pair. Anyone serious about Xenogears already knows.
