Ultracore (Genesis Game)

A lost 90s run-and-gun finally claws its way onto a real Genesis cartridge, and only 999 of us get to own it. Ultracore for Sega Genesis is the physical release of the game originally developed as "Hardcore" by Digital Illusions, the studio that would go on to create Battlefield. This 60 Hz Genesis-compatible cartridge ships with a manual and runs on the highest quality boards available, built to play nice with your original hardware.
The story behind this one is the stuff collector legends are made of. Development wrapped in the mid-90s, the game was essentially complete, and then it just vanished. Shelved. Unreleased. For 25 years Ultracore existed only as whispered myth among retro gaming circles, a playable ghost that nobody could actually play. Now it's real, it's on a cartridge, and it slots right into the console like it always should have.
We don't get many chances to add a genuinely unreleased 90s title to our Genesis libraries. This isn't a reprint or a remaster. It's a game that missed its window by decades and finally landed. The run-and-gun action holds up, the pixel art has that unmistakable mid-90s DICE energy, and the cartridge itself is a conversation piece that most collectors won't even know exists. With only 999 copies produced, this is the kind of shelf addition that makes someone stop, pull it out, and ask you to explain the whole story. And what a story it is.
