Ultracore (Mega Drive Game)

A game that spent 25 years unreleased, now on a Mega Drive cartridge limited to 999 copies. Ultracore for Mega Drive is the 50Hz European version of Digital Illusions' legendary lost title, a Strictly Limited Games release that finally puts this mythical 90s game into collectors' hands on original hardware.
Originally developed as "Hardcore" in the mid-90s, Ultracore was completed for Sega Mega Drive, Genesis, Mega-CD, and Amiga, then inexplicably shelved before release. For decades it existed only as rumor and prototype footage, one of the great "what if" stories in gaming history. Digital Illusions moved on to create the Battlefield franchise, and Hardcore became a footnote. Until it wasn't.
This cartridge is built with the highest quality boards available, designed to work with original EU Mega Drive consoles and compatible hardware without causing any damage. Important to note: this is the 50Hz version, and while there's no region lock, it won't display properly on US consoles due to display area differences.
At 999 copies, this straddles the line between accessible and genuinely rare. It's a Mega Drive cartridge that never existed during the console's commercial lifespan, released decades later for a community that kept the hardware alive. There's something poetic about that. For retro collectors who value history, authenticity, and the thrill of owning something that was never supposed to reach us, Ultracore is as good as it gets. A real piece of gaming archaeology, pressed into cartridge form.
