Dead Island Special Edition

XBOX 360
Dead Island Special Edition
Deep Silver9/9/2011Europe

Paradise turned zombie apocalypse, and the Special Edition made sure you were ready for it. The Dead Island Special Edition on Xbox 360 ships with exclusive alternative cover art and a DLC package headlined by The Ripper, a baseball bat fused with a buzz saw that became one of the game's most iconic weapons. This is the version that said "welcome to Banoi" with teeth.

The Bloodbath Arena DLC adds four trap-laden arenas with endless zombie waves playable solo or in co-op, plus the ability to carry earned XP and loot back into your campaign. On top of that, you get the Sonic Pulse Grenade as an additional weapon. For a game built around creative zombie dismemberment, these extras weren't cosmetic throwaways. They expanded the experience in meaningful ways.

In the United Kingdom, this edition was locked exclusively to GAME stores, giving it a retail-specific scarcity that tightens the supply for collectors outside that chain. The Xbox 360 era was the golden age of retailer exclusives, where different stores competed for unique SKUs, and Dead Island's UK GAME exclusivity is a textbook example. Once those store allocations sold through, they were gone.

That alternative cover art is the quiet differentiator on a shelf. Standard copies blend together, but the Special Edition packaging stands apart at a glance. For collectors who value variant cover art and region-locked retail exclusives, this is the Dead Island to own.
