Dead Island Special Edition (AU)
Sometimes a special edition is less about what's inside the box and more about the headset strapped to it. The Dead Island Special Edition for PlayStation 3, released in Australia, bundled Techland's zombie-smashing tropical nightmare with a Turtle Beach PX21 headset and a Bloodbath Arena DLC code. That's it.
Two items. But what a pairing. The PX21 was a genuinely solid gaming headset in 2011, the kind of peripheral that made co-op zombie slaying on Banoi sound like you were actually being chased through a resort by the undead.
Dead Island was built for cooperative play, four friends dropping in and out of each other's sessions while crafting absurd melee weapons and pretending the story made sense. Having a quality headset bundled in meant you were ready for that experience right out of the box. The Bloodbath Arena DLC threw you into wave-based survival arenas, pure distilled zombie carnage that let you grind XP and haul loot back into the main campaign.
As an AU-exclusive bundle, this one's become a regional curiosity for collectors. It's the kind of edition that doesn't scream from across the room, but when another collector spots that Turtle Beach branding on your shelf, they know exactly what era of gaming you lived through.
