Brink Special Edition

Bethesda gave Brink three different collector's editions on PS3, and this Special Edition brought the DOOM. The Brink Special Edition on PS3 loaded up the game with two in-game content packs: the DOOM Pack, featuring Bulpdaun SMG skins, a Cacodemon body tattoo, two DOOM t-shirts, and two DOOM caps for your character, plus the Spec Ops Pack with a Hockler machine pistol, Sloani mask, greeneye scope, and dogtag tattoo. Cross-pollinating Brink's customization-heavy gameplay with id Software's DOOM legacy was a smart play that gave this edition a distinct identity separate from the SteelBook and Collector's Edition variants.

Splash Damage built Brink around character expression, so packing in exclusive cosmetic items that reference one of gaming's most iconic franchises added genuine appeal for id Software fans. The PS3 era was the last great stretch of disc-based special editions where in-game content still felt like a bonus rather than the whole package. Tracking down all three Brink PS3 editions is a satisfying mini-collection within a collection, and the Special Edition's DOOM tie-in makes it the most interesting of the trio for anyone with a soft spot for classic FPS history.

Complete copies with unused codes are the collector's ideal, though even redeemed copies carry the packaging appeal.
