Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition

Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition

Dante's European vacation came with some serious perks. The Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition on PlayStation 3 in its PAL release swaps out the NTSC bonus disc approach for something more tactile: a paperback art book titled "Art of the Devil" showcasing the stunning visual design behind the game. The whole package sits inside a steelbook case that gives Nero and Dante the premium metal housing they deserve.

Devil May Cry 4 marked the series' jump to HD consoles, and it looked absolutely gorgeous doing it. The art book captures that leap, offering sketches and concept work that reveal how Capcom built one of the most stylish action games of the generation from the ground up. Here's where PAL collectors get a little smug: while the NTSC version leaned on bonus discs and anime episodes, this version delivered a physical art book, and physical always ages better than a DVD you'll watch once.

The steelbook case has only gotten more desirable with time, as DMC4 steelbooks in clean condition have become harder to find on the secondary market. For Devil May Cry completionists and PS3 collectors who appreciate European variants, this PAL Collector's Edition is a distinctly different beast from its American counterpart, and that's exactly the kind of regional split that makes collecting interesting.
