Rage (SteelBook Edition)

A SteelBook without a special edition, and that's precisely the point. The Rage SteelBook Edition on Playstation 3 is a generic Rage-themed steel case bundled alongside the standard game. No DLC bonuses, no physical extras. Just a G2-sized metal case with Rage artwork and the disc-based game you already know.

The appeal here is pure format. For SteelBook collectors who chase completeness across a franchise or a shelf, this PS3 edition fills a very specific slot. The G2 sizing on PS3 sets it apart from the G1 SteelBooks that shipped with Xbox 360 and PC versions, which matters when you're curating a display where uniformity and variant documentation are the whole game.

Distribution is where this gets interesting. It was only available through GAME in France or select Spanish stores as a pre-order bonus for the standard edition. That makes it one of the more geographically restricted Rage variants, and because it was a bonus item rather than a standalone SKU, many copies got separated from their games or discarded by buyers who didn't care about the case.

Surviving paired sets, SteelBook and game together in clean condition, are harder to find than you'd expect for something this "basic." Sometimes the simplest editions become the rarest simply because nobody thought to preserve them.
