Portal 2 Cube Edition
Valve4/21/2011Australia

Valve knows how to make a cube mean something, and this edition proved it. The Portal 2 Cube Edition on PS3 packaged one of the greatest puzzle games ever made alongside a Portal-themed Rubik's Cube, all housed in a unique, individually numbered box. That's it.

No art book, no statue, no season pass flyer. Just a phenomenal game and a brain teaser themed after the Weighted Companion Cube, which is arguably the most emotionally resonant inanimate object in gaming history. The numbered box gives each copy its own identity, turning a mass-produced product into something that feels personal.

Portal 2 on PS3 was already special thanks to Valve's cross-platform play support with Steam, and wrapping it in this compact, clever edition just amplified the appeal. The Rubik's Cube itself is a collectible that works both in and out of context. Display it next to the game or toss it on your desk as a standalone conversation piece.

The Cube Edition is lean, thematic, and confident enough to let two strong items carry the whole package. Complete copies with the Rubik's Cube still pristine are becoming uncommon as the years roll on. If you appreciate restraint in collector's edition design, this is a masterclass.
