X Men: Destiny Havok Edition
Mutant powers, straight out of the box. The X Men: Destiny Havok Edition on Xbox 360 is one of those mid-gen oddities that collectors with a taste for the obscure should have on their radar. This edition came with four in-game bonuses tied to the Havok character: Plasma Damage, the ability for projectiles to pass through your character, Increased Resistance, and Increased Mutant Power.
X Men: Destiny let players create their own mutant and choose allegiances in a branching narrative that pitted the X-Men against the Brotherhood. The Havok Edition's bonuses gave you a head start with abilities inspired by Alex Summers himself, the plasma-slinging brother of Cyclops. Silicon Knights developed this one, and while it didn't set the world on fire critically, it occupies a specific niche in the X-Men gaming library.
Licensed superhero games from this era are a fascinating collecting category. Many were produced in modest quantities and largely forgotten, which is exactly the kind of condition that makes something interesting a decade later. The Havok-specific powers make this edition distinct from other character variants that were released alongside it.
If you're collecting the full set of X Men: Destiny character editions, this is a necessary piece. If you're building a comprehensive X-Men or Marvel gaming collection on the 360, it fills a gap that's harder to address with each passing year. Not every collector's piece needs to be a masterpiece.
Sometimes the value is in the completeness of a collection, and the Havok Edition delivers exactly that.
