Not every collector's item announces itself with a special edition sticker. The Viva Pinata First Edition on Xbox 360 shipped as the only version available at launch, but it was quietly replaced by a standard snap-case release once the initial limited run sold through. If you weren't paying attention, you missed it.

The First Edition comes in a distinctive 3D plastic clamshell case with a rounded top and matching plastic slip cover, immediately setting it apart from anything else on the 360 shelf. Open it up and you'll find a cardboard and plastic foldout with game art, a special version of the manual, an additional game booklet, a bonus content disc, and a 48-hour Xbox Live trial. It's a surprisingly loaded package for something that was never marketed as a collector's edition.

That's exactly what makes it interesting. Rare (the developer, not the rarity, though both apply) put genuine care into the initial production run, and most buyers at the time had no idea they were holding something that would never be manufactured again. The clamshell case is fragile and prone to cracking, the slip cover gets scuffed easily, and the bonus disc tends to go missing. A truly complete, clean First Edition is one of those stealth collectibles that 360 enthusiasts discover years after the fact. It rewards the collectors who pay attention to packaging details and production variants rather than just chasing the titles with "Limited Edition" printed on the front.
