Viking: Battle for Asgard (Tin)
SEGA went Norse and wrapped it in metal. Sort of. The Viking: Battle for Asgard Tin Edition for PlayStation 3 houses the game in a metallic tin case with a plastic slipcase, a packaging choice that generated its own controversy when collectors discovered it wasn't technically a SteelBook.
The distinction matters in collecting circles, and the debate itself has become part of this edition's story. Viking: Battle for Asgard was SEGA and Creative Assembly's hack-and-slash take on Norse mythology, featuring massive battles with hundreds of on-screen warriors. It was ambitious, chaotic, and unapologetically violent.
The Tin Edition was a retailer exclusive that gave the game a more commanding shelf presence than the standard plastic case. Whether or not the metal casing meets SteelBook purist standards, it's still a distinct PS3 variant that stands out in any collection. This is one of those mid-tier PS3 exclusives that flew under the radar at launch but has aged into genuine curiosity status.
The Tin Edition adds a layer of collectibility to a game that most people forgot existed, which is exactly the kind of overlooked piece that serious collectors gravitate toward.
