Middle-earth's northern front doesn't get nearly enough attention, and neither does this edition. The Lord of the Rings War in the North SteelBook Edition for Xbox 360 comes with two legendary weapon DLC items that any Tolkien fan will recognize immediately: Sting, the blade that glows blue when orcs are near, and Anduril, the Flame of the West reforged from the shards of Narsil.

War in the North was the first M-rated Lord of the Rings game, bringing a grittier, bloodier take on Tolkien's world that focused on the battles happening far from Frodo's journey south. The SteelBook case gives it a shelf presence that the standard release simply doesn't match. Metal cases from this era have aged remarkably well as collectibles, and one bearing the Lord of the Rings license carries additional weight for fantasy collectors who display across media.

The Stinger Sword and Anduril DLC weapons are pulled directly from the films and books, connecting this lesser-known game to the franchise's most iconic artifacts. There's something satisfying about wielding Aragorn's reforged blade in a campaign set in the same war, just on a different front. It grounds the experience in the established mythology rather than treating the DLC as throwaway cosmetics.

For 360 collectors, licensed Lord of the Rings games occupy a specific and increasingly valuable niche. War in the North may not have the cultural footprint of the movie tie-in games, but the SteelBook Edition gives it a collector's profile that punches above its critical reception. If you're building a Middle-earth gaming shelf, this fills a gap between the beloved PS2-era titles and Shadow of Mordor's later reinvention of the franchise.
