Switch Limited Run #8: Night Trap Classic Edition

NINTENDO SWITCH
Switch Limited Run #8: Night Trap Classic Edition
Limited Run Games

The game that nearly got video games banned by Congress, now on a Nintendo console. The irony is absolutely delicious. Switch Limited Run #8: Night Trap Classic Edition for the Nintendo Switch is limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, and the contents of this package read like a collector's fever dream.

Inside you'll find the game with reversible cover art and manual, a Night Trap SteelBook case, an 18x24 poster, and a long-box Sega CD jewel case with appropriately sized manual and a foam insert designed to hold a Switch cartridge. Then there's the crown jewel: a 48-minute film version of Night Trap on an actual VHS tape in a black plastic library case. A VHS tape.

In a Nintendo Switch release. We live in incredible times. Night Trap was the poster child for the early '90s moral panic over video game content, the controversy that led directly to the creation of the ESRB rating system.

It's interactive FMV cheese at its finest, and its cultural significance to gaming history is undeniable. The Sega CD case holding a Switch cart is peak collector absurdity, and the VHS is the kind of pack-in that makes you reorganize your entire display setup. At just 3,000 units, this Classic Edition is as scarce as it is strange.
