Jitsu Squad (PS4)

PLAYSTATION 4
Jitsu Squad (PS4)
Strictly Limited Games

The PS4 disc era produced some of the most collectible limited runs in modern gaming, and Jitsu Squad slots right into that legacy. Jitsu Squad for PlayStation 4 is limited to just 750 copies worldwide, exclusively through Strictly Limited Games and ININ Games. It comes with a colorful manual and a reversible cover design that lets you display the artwork without age ratings or technical markings.

750 copies. That's it. For a 2D beat-em-up channeling the spirit of 90s arcade brawlers with modern polish, that's an exceptionally tight number. The game features four playable characters, each with upgradeable abilities and unique secondary weapons that open up new combo routes. The combat system stacks over 100 chain combos with infinite juggles and super specials, while fighting game input commands give the whole experience an authentic retro feel.

Jitsu Squad's storyline is gleefully absurd. A sorcerer named Origami curses warriors into animal forms, a monk named Ramen saves four souls, and you fight across eight planets to retrieve a demon stone. Johnny Gioeli from Crush 40 provides the soundtrack, which is exactly the kind of creative decision that makes this game what it is. Four-player local co-op and a tag team mode round out the multiplayer options.

PS4 collectors understand that the window for physical disc releases on this platform is closing. Every limited run that ships now becomes part of a finite library. At 750 copies with a reversible cover, this is one of the tightest Jitsu Squad runs across any platform. The kind of disc you hold onto while everyone else moves on to the next generation.
