Dead Space 2 Limited Edition
Most "limited editions" give you a poster and call it a day. This one gave you an entire extra game. The Dead Space 2 Limited Edition for Playstation 3 was a first edition release, meaning every pre-order and launch day copy was automatically the Limited Edition. Inside, alongside one of the most terrifying sequels ever made, you got the full version of Dead Space Extraction, previously a Wii exclusive, remastered in HD and updated with Playstation Move support.
That's not a demo. Not a "sample chapter." The complete game, rebuilt for the PS3. Dead Space Extraction on its own is a fantastic on-rails shooter that fills in critical backstory for the Ishimura incident, and having it paired with Dead Space 2 on a single platform made this the definitive way to experience the franchise's early chapters. The Move compatibility was a smart touch too, bringing the Wii original's pointer-based gameplay into the HD era.
Dead Space as a franchise has had a complicated journey, which makes PS3-era physical releases all the more significant for collectors. The Limited Edition's first press nature means copies existed in large numbers initially, but that was over a decade ago. Clean, complete copies with the Extraction disc and all inserts intact are becoming harder to source. For horror collectors and PS3 enthusiasts, this is one of those editions where the included content genuinely justified the "limited" label. It wasn't marketing fluff. It was a whole second game.
