Darksiders II Limited Edition
THQ6/26/2012

Death rides again, and this time he brought a DLC code. The Darksiders II Limited Edition on PC is a first-edition release that bundled the Argul's Tomb Expansion Pack with every pre-order and day-one purchase, automatically upgrading buyers from the standard version at no extra step required.

Darksiders II was THQ's ambitious sequel that swapped War for Death and expanded the original's Zelda-meets-God of War formula into something sprawling and loot-driven. The Argul's Tomb expansion added a frozen, dungeon-crawling side story that complemented the main game's apocalyptic scope, and having it included from day one gave Limited Edition owners immediate access to content that standard buyers had to wait for.

For PC collectors, this sits in a bittersweet spot. THQ went bankrupt not long after Darksiders II launched, scattering the franchise's future across different publishers and making this physical release a snapshot of a studio's final creative push. The Limited Edition designation, tied to first-run copies only, means the window for these was brief. Once initial stock cleared, standard editions replaced them on shelves.

Physical PC copies from 2012 are becoming harder to find in general, and a first-edition variant with DLC inserts intact is the specific target for anyone serious about preserving this era. Darksiders II deserved better than the hand it was dealt commercially, and the Limited Edition is a small, tangible way to honor a game that swung for the fences right before the lights went out.
