Battlefield 4 Deluxe Edition on PlayStation 3 dropped with the China Rising expansion pack already in the box and three Gold Battlepacks ready to crack open. Those Battlepacks were DICE's randomized loot system before loot boxes became a dirty word, containing weapon accessories, dog tags, knives, XP boosts, and character customization items that added a genuine thrill to the multiplayer grind. Having China Rising included from day one meant four extra maps, new vehicles, and additional game modes right on the disc, no waiting for a staggered DLC rollout.

BF4 arrived during the PS3's twilight, straddling two console generations, and the Deluxe Edition represents the last time Battlefield went all-in on a PS3 SKU with meaningful bonus content. The multiplayer persistence system that Battlepacks fed into was the game's secret hook, and starting with three Gold-tier packs gave Deluxe owners a genuine head start that standard edition players had to grind for. This is a late-cycle PS3 release built for the players who weren't ready to jump to next-gen yet, and the Deluxe packaging marks it as the premium version of that commitment.

For Battlefield collectors building a complete franchise shelf, this is the PS3 chapter's definitive edition.
