Army of Two (Special Edition)
EA3/19/2008Japan

Two mercenaries, one special edition, and a pair of pack-ins that keep it honest. The Army of Two Special Edition on Xbox 360 came with a guidebook and a sticker sheet, a straightforward package for a game that was anything but subtle.

Army of Two was the co-op shooter that leaned fully into the buddy action fantasy, complete with fist bumps, custom masks, and back-to-back shooting sequences that would make any action movie director jealous. EA Montreal built a game around the idea that everything is better with a partner, and the Special Edition acknowledged the fans who showed up ready. The guidebook provided tactical breakdowns and mission walkthroughs for a campaign designed around coordinated aggression, while the sticker sheet let you rep Salem and Rios outside the console.

These aren't the flashiest pack-ins in 360 history, and that's fine. Not every collector's edition needs a statue or an art book to earn its place on the shelf. The Army of Two Special Edition is a clean, focused variant that gives completionists the version they need without overcomplicating things. The guidebook especially has gained value as a physical artifact, since printed strategy guides from this era have become collectible in their own right as the industry moved entirely to digital walkthroughs. For 360 co-op fans building a library that covers the console's multiplayer legacy, the Special Edition is the proper way to own Army of Two. Small box, big energy.
