Army of Two (Special Edition)
EA3/19/2008Asia

EA's co-op shooter came out swinging with a Special Edition that added some tangible extras to the bromance. The Army of Two Special Edition for PlayStation 3 includes a guidebook and a sticker sheet alongside the base game, keeping things simple in an era when collector's editions were starting to bloat with unnecessary trinkets. Army of Two was built entirely around the idea that two players working together could create something more dynamic than any solo experience.

The aggro system, where one player draws enemy fire while the other flanks, was genuinely innovative for its time. The guidebook offered strategic insight into a game that actually demanded coordination, not just twitch reflexes. The sticker sheet is a charming throwback to the kind of pack-in extras that publishers included when physical media still felt personal.

This isn't the flashiest special edition on the PS3 shelf, but it's a clean, honest package for a game that carved out its own niche. Army of Two's masked mercenaries became iconic enough to spawn sequels, and this Special Edition represents the original at its most complete. Sometimes a collector's edition doesn't need a statue or a metal case.

It just needs to give you something the standard copy doesn't.
