The pirate life demanded more than just a disc and a slip of paper. The Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Skull Edition on PlayStation 3 wraps Ubisoft's open-sea masterpiece in a package that actually feels like plunder. Inside you'll find an artbook documenting the visual development of the Caribbean setting, the official game soundtrack for when you need shanties outside the Jackdaw, and two lithographs housed in a protective envelope for display-ready wall art.

On the digital side, you get two additional solo missions: Hidden Mystery, following Stede Bonnet's trail through the island of St. Lucia, and Sacrificed Secrets, a treasure hunt for Captain Drake's golden flintlocks across the island of Sacrifices. The Captain Kenway's Legacy pack rounds things out with bonus single and multiplayer items.

This was the mid-tier sweet spot of the PS3 era, where publishers gave you physical goods that actually complemented the game's identity. The lithographs are the standout here. Framed and mounted, they look like genuine nautical illustrations, the kind of pieces that elevate a game room without screaming "video game merch" to every visitor.

The Skull Edition occupies that collector middle ground between the bare-bones Special Edition and the statue-heavy premium tiers. For Black Flag devotees who want tangible pieces of the world Ubisoft built, this is the edition that delivers without demanding an entire shelf.
