The Elder Scrolls Online Imperial Edition
Bethesda4/4/2014

Twelve inches of Daedric Prince staring down from your shelf tends to settle any debate about which Elder Scrolls edition belongs in a collection. The Elder Scrolls Online Imperial Edition on PC built its entire identity around a Molag Bal statue that commands attention the moment you open the box.

The Imperial Edition was ZeniMax's premium pitch for ESO's launch, and they didn't hold back. That 12-inch Molag Bal statue is a beast of a sculpt, capturing the Daedric Prince of domination in all his horned, menacing glory. The printed map of Tamriel details every alliance-controlled zone and the contested heart of Cyrodiil, the kind of wall piece that makes your gaming space feel like a war room. Then there's the Emperor's Guide to Tamriel, a 224-page illustrated guide annotated by the fictional Imperial scholar Flaccus Terentius. This isn't a strategy guide. It's an in-universe artifact, packed with lore and illustration that reads like something you'd find in a Mages Guild library. A steelbook houses the game itself, and digital extras including Imperial race access for any alliance, a White Imperial Horse, Mudcrab vanity pet, and Rings of Mara rounded out a package built for Elder Scrolls devotees.

ESO's launch was rocky, but the Imperial Edition never wavered. The physical goods stand entirely on their own merits, independent of server stability or patch notes. That Molag Bal statue has only grown more impressive as the game itself evolved into one of the most successful MMOs running. For PC collectors who've spent years exploring Tamriel, this is the edition that brings the lore off the screen and onto the shelf where it belongs.
