A Star Wars rail shooter on Sega CD physical media in 2024. Read that sentence again and tell us you don't feel something. Star Wars: Rebel Assault SCD Classic Edition puts the 1993 Sega CD classic on a brand new physical disc, limited to 2,500 copies worldwide and compatible in the NTSC region.

Rebel Assault was a technical showcase back in the day, pushing FMV sequences and scaling sprites in ways that made our Sega CD feel like it was finally earning its spot next to the Genesis. Piloting X-wings, dodging asteroids, and taking on Imperial forces through digitized footage felt like the future. It was the kind of game you showed off to friends who doubted your console choice.

For Sega CD collectors, this is a significant piece. The Sega CD library is finite, deeply nostalgic, and increasingly difficult to build. A fresh, sealed Star Wars title on that platform is the sort of addition that elevates an entire collection. No purchase limit means you can grab one to play and one to preserve, but with only 2,500 produced, the math on long-term availability isn't complicated. This one belongs on the shelf next to your Lunar and Sonic CD.
