Dash Rendar finally gets the blister card treatment he's been waiting 30 years for. Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Classic Edition for N64 is a fully functional physical cartridge, limited to 3,000 copies worldwide, sealed onto a retro 9" x 6" mint-on-card blister pack that channels pure mid-90s toy aisle energy. This is the fifth release in the Lucasfilm retro card lineup, and it might be the most essential one yet.

Shadows of the Empire was the N64 title that proved Star Wars games could be more than just X-Wing sims. The Battle of Hoth opening level alone justified the cartridge, and the rest of the game took players through an original story set between Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Dash Rendar became an unofficial member of the expanded universe pantheon, and this game was his proving ground. It was clunky in places, beautiful in others, and absolutely unforgettable for anyone who played it during those early N64 days.

The Classic Edition presentation is what makes this a collector's dream. Blister-packed to a card with internal boards by Retro-Bit, each unit is built for both display and play, with a method for accessing the cartridge without destroying the packaging. At 3,000 copies in NTSC format, this sits at the intersection of Star Wars memorabilia, retro gaming, and limited-run collecting. Three hobbies, one card, zero regrets. For anyone who remembers renting this from Blockbuster and wishing they could keep it forever, now you can.
