The NES classic that defined co-op ninja action has been rebuilt by its original creators, and this is the physical release that preserves it. The Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn Limited Edition for Nintendo Switch is limited to 2,400 individually numbered copies worldwide, a Strictly Limited Games exclusive with a serialized cover and colorful manual.

After 33 years away, Tengo Project returned to give Shadow of the Ninja the treatment it always deserved. The pixel art has been completely overhauled, transforming Hayate and Kaede from 8-bit icons into beautifully detailed modern sprites. Five rebuilt stages and a brand new sixth level are packed with traps, platform puzzles, and a menagerie of bosses. The expanded arsenal now includes ninja swords, chains, shurikens, a gunpowder gun, iron caltrops, and healing rice balls, all layered over a new dynamic dash move that adds speed the NES could never deliver.

The two-player co-op mode, once considered among the best on the NES, makes its return. Grab a second Joy-Con and relive the magic of teaming up against impossible odds. Hiroyuki Iwatsuki and Iku Mizutani's soundtrack fuses retro melodies with blazing guitar work, creating a score that honors the original while standing entirely on its own.

The Switch's portability makes this the version you can take to a friend's place for co-op sessions, just like carrying a cartridge to a buddy's house back in the day. At 2,400 copies, this is the most accessible Shadow of the Ninja - Reborn physical edition, but "accessible" is relative when the total worldwide production across all editions is only 3,000.
