River City Ball & Brawl Bundle (NES)
Strictly Limited Games

Two Japan-exclusive Kunio games on NES cartridges, fully translated into English, bundled together with a slipcase. The River City Ball and Brawl Bundle is the kind of release that NES collectors build wishlists around. This Retro-Bit production brings River City Basketball and River City Fighting Legend together for their first official physical release outside of Japan, with new localizations by Nathan Deren and translations by Jonathan Antonioli, all approved by Arc System Works.

Each game comes on its own collector's edition 8-bit cartridge in a numbered deluxe hardcover box with a full-color manual and acrylic display stand. The bundle adds a special edition slipcase to house both titles together. It's a clean, purpose-built set that looks fantastic as a pair on any NES shelf. River City Fighting Legend throws Kunio and Riki into a 2v2 tournament brawler, while River City Basketball sends the crew across America for a streetball tournament against teams with names like the Navy Seals and the Las Vegas Gamblers.

These are Technos Japan classics from an era when developers weren't afraid to let 8-bit sprites play fast and loose with genre conventions. Fighting and basketball, filtered through Kunio's particular brand of hot-blooded chaos. Both cartridges run on original NTSC and PAL NES hardware as well as most clone consoles, region-free with 5-volt chips and beveled insert points. The open pre-order window means no reprint, so whatever gets ordered is the final count. For those of us who spent years knowing these games existed but never having a legitimate way to play them in English, this bundle closes the loop. Two cartridges, one slipcase, decades of unfinished business, finally settled.
