Rage Anarchy Edition
Every pre-ordered copy of Rage was technically an Anarchy Edition, but that "technically" is what makes it collectible. The Rage Anarchy Edition on Playstation 3 was a first-run release, meaning once that initial wave sold through, the Anarchy branding and its bonus content disappeared from shelves for good. First editions by any other name.
The included DLC gave early adopters a genuine head start: a one-handed Double Barrel Shotgun, Fists of Rage knuckledusters, the Rat Rod Buggy combat vehicle, and the Crimson Elite Armour combining all three in-game suit attributes. These weren't cosmetic throwaways. They changed how you played the opening hours of id Software's wasteland shooter.
What makes this particular variant interesting for collectors is the pre-order bonus layer. If you grabbed your copy from GAME France or select Spanish stores, you received a separate Rage SteelBook as an additional extra. The PS3 version came with a G2-sized case, unsealed and bundled alongside the game. That means finding an Anarchy Edition with its bonus SteelBook still intact and paired together is a genuinely rare combination.
The PS3 era thrived on these layered pre-order ecosystems where retailers competed for exclusivity. For collectors who document provenance, knowing which store a copy came from actually changes its value. This is that kind of edition.
