Prince of Persia (Special Edition)
Ubisoft rebooted the Prince, gave him a stunning cel-shaded world, and then packed the Special Edition with extras that actually mattered. The Prince of Persia Special Edition on PlayStation 3 includes a scratch card unlocking exclusive in-game skins, the classic Prince skin and the beloved Farah skin for Elika, an exclusive 24-page comic book revealing the backstory of the Hunter, and a bonus DVD loaded with the soundtrack, behind-the-scenes videos, and digital goodies. The comic book is the standout piece here.
Produced by Penny Arcade, it dives into the origin of one of the game's key bosses, a prince who traded his soul to Ahriman for the ultimate hunt. It's genuine lore expansion in physical form, the kind of storytelling extra that made PS3-era special editions feel like they were made by people who cared about the world they'd built. The 2008 Prince of Persia reboot divided fans with its striking art direction and departure from the Sands of Time formula, but time has been kind to it.
That painterly visual style still looks gorgeous, and the Elika partnership mechanic was ahead of its time. The in-game skins connecting the reboot to the classic series show Ubisoft understood the franchise's legacy even while pushing it forward. This Special Edition captures that transitional moment perfectly.
