Limited Run Games

Sometimes the smallest studios produce the most curious collectibles. Limited Run #87: Mecho Tales Developer Edition for Vita packages this side-scrolling action platformer on a physical cartridge with a developer-focused twist, limited to just 1,000 copies produced worldwide. It's a Vita release through and through, arriving in a slipcover with alternate cover artwork and a bonus Limited Run trading card.

The Developer Edition exists for a specific reason: direct support for the creators. That ethos used to be the backbone of the limited physical market, funding small teams so they could keep making games on their own terms. For Vita collectors especially, that story matters. The handheld's library thrives on these oddball, passion-driven titles that never would have seen physical production without Limited Run stepping in.

The slipcover and new cover art give this a distinct shelf presence compared to the standard release, and that extra trading card is a nice touch for anyone building out a full LRG card set. Mecho Tales itself is a colorful, hand-drawn platformer with co-op support, the kind of pick-up-and-play experience the Vita was built for.

With the Vita's physical library now fully closed out, every sealed copy carries extra weight. Developer Editions in particular had smaller print runs than their standard counterparts, and this one at 1,000 units sits firmly in the scarce category. If you're building a complete Vita Limited Run collection, this is one of those gaps that only gets harder to fill.
