FMV games are the beautiful weirdos of our hobby, and Ground Zero: Texas might be the weirdest of them all. Limited Run #385: Ground Zero: Texas Nuclear Edition Classic Edition for PS4 brings this Sega CD deep cut back from the dead on a region-free physical disc, and the Classic Edition packaging is specifically designed to sit alongside your Night Trap, Double Switch, and Corpse Killer collections. If you know, you know.

The premise is gloriously absurd. Aliens have infiltrated a dusty Texas border town, disguising themselves as humans, and you're the tactical weapons expert sent in with particle beam cameras to sort it all out. It's the kind of wild concept that could only exist in the early 90s FMV gold rush, and Sega poured real money into making it feel like an interactive B-movie. The Nuclear Edition is a proper restoration, giving the game a second life it never got during its original run.

What makes this Classic Edition sing is the extras. The oversized long box format ties the whole FMV collection together on your shelf. You get the original soundtrack on physical CD, a reversible 18 x 24 inch poster, a metal mini license plate, a Ground Zero Texas decal, a reversible cover, and the full game script. That last one is a collector's detail that shows real care. Reading through the script of an FMV game from 1993 is its own kind of time travel.

For anyone building out a complete FMV library, this is a cornerstone piece. The long box format alone makes it essential.
