Jitsu Squad Collector’s Edition (PS5)

PLAYSTATION 5
Jitsu Squad Collector’s Edition (PS5)
Strictly Limited Games

Four animal warriors, a headband, a hand surfboard, and one of the most absurdly fun beat-em-ups to hit modern consoles. The Jitsu Squad Collector's Edition for PlayStation 5 packs a staggering amount of physical goods into a box that matches the game's over-the-top energy. This is premium shelf presence for a brawler that earned every bit of it.

Jitsu Squad channels the spirit of 90s arcade fighters through a modern lens. Lightning-fast 2D combat with 100-plus chain combos, infinite juggles, and special moves so ridiculous they loop back around to brilliant. The Kusanagi Stone storyline is gloriously unhinged, featuring a sorcerer named Origami, a monk called Ramen, and four cursed warriors named Hero, Baby, Jazz, and Aros. Johnny Gioeli of Crush 40 and Sonic the Hedgehog fame handles the soundtrack. This game knows exactly what it is.

The Collector's Edition contents read like a love letter to fighting game culture. You get the PS5 game with manual, an artbook, the original soundtrack, an acrylic diorama, a reversible poster, a postcard set, sticker sheet, a pin paperwheel, a hand fan, and a headband so you can look the part during couch co-op sessions. The hand surfboard is the kind of pack-in that makes people stop and ask questions about your collection.

Up to four players locally, tag team mode for two-player squads, and an upgrade system that turns each warrior into a legitimate combo machine. The fighting game input commands are a deliberate 90s throwback that genre veterans will appreciate. This Collector's Edition is exclusively through ININ, separate from the Kickstarter campaign. For PS5 collectors who want their brawlers loud and their boxes packed, Jitsu Squad delivers.
