Homefront Don't Tread on Me Edition
THQ3/17/2011Australia

Resistance isn't just a theme in Homefront. It's the entire collector's identity. The Homefront Don't Tread on Me Edition on PlayStation 3 wraps Kaos Studios' controversial near-future shooter in a patriotic package that includes a Propaganda Booklet, a Concept Art Card, a cloth embroidered Patch, a Shotgun DLC unlock, and a Multiplayer Unlock Pack.

The Propaganda Booklet is the real prize here, a piece of in-universe worldbuilding that imagines occupied America through the lens of enemy-produced media. It's the kind of tangible storytelling that digital downloads simply can't replicate. The cloth patch carries that same resistance-fighter energy, something you could actually wear or display alongside the game.

Homefront caught heat for its premise, a Korean occupation of the United States, but that controversy is exactly what makes its physical memorabilia so fascinating in retrospect. This was a game that committed fully to its dystopian vision, and the Don't Tread on Me Edition leaned all the way into it. The shotgun DLC and multiplayer unlocks gave buyers a combat advantage, while the concept art card offers a glimpse at the visual development behind one of the PS3 era's most politically charged shooters.

Complete copies with all inserts intact are getting harder to find, and this is one of those editions where the physical extras tell a better story than the game's marketing ever did.
