Canada's take on fear came wrapped in steel through a retailer that no longer exists. The F.3.A.R. SteelBook Edition on Xbox 360 bundles a generic F.3.A.R.-themed SteelBook alongside the standard edition game. It was available exclusively through Future Shop in Canada as a pre-order bonus, and Future Shop's permanent closure means this distribution channel is sealed shut forever.

Defunct retailer exclusives carry a weight that active-store exclusives simply don't. There are no clearance sales, no warehouse finds, no corporate liquidation floods. What Future Shop sold during that pre-order window is the total population. Period. For Xbox 360 SteelBook collectors who track Canadian exclusives, F.3.A.R. sits in that uncomfortably thin category where supply was modest at launch and has only shrunk since.

The SteelBook itself does what horror SteelBooks do best. Dark imagery on metal creates a display piece that standard plastic cases can't replicate. F.3.A.R. may not have set the world on fire commercially, but the franchise has maintained a loyal following among horror game enthusiasts who appreciate what Monolith brought to the genre.

This is the Canadian counterpart to the French GAME variant. Same concept, different continent, different extinct retailer. Collectors who chase regional SteelBook variants know that these parallel releases tell a story about how publishers carved up territories during the Xbox 360 era. Both versions deserve documentation. Both deserve a spot on the shelf.
