Eschatos Special Limited Edition (Nintendo Switch)

NINTENDO SWITCH
Eschatos Special Limited Edition (Nintendo Switch)
Strictly Limited Games

One of the most celebrated vertical shooters ever made finally gets the physical collector's treatment it deserves. The Eschatos Special Limited Edition for Nintendo Switch packages Qute's masterpiece alongside its WonderSwan predecessors in a Strictly Limited Games run of 1,400 individually numbered copies worldwide.

Eschatos is the kind of game that converts skeptics into SHMUP devotees. Three weapon types, five difficulty levels, and a dynamic camera system that makes seamless stage transitions feel like a roller coaster through Earth's orbit, temple ruins, and an alien moon base. Yousuke Yasui's retro-synth soundtrack is practically its own reason to own the game. The Switch version brings remastered audio, faster load times, and performance improvements over the original Japan-exclusive Xbox 360 release, and having it portable means you can chase leaderboard scores anywhere.

Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins round out the package, two WonderSwan Color shooters that laid the groundwork for everything Eschatos became. This is the first time any of these three games have been released physically outside Japan.

The Special Limited Edition box delivers beyond the disc. A three-disc soundtrack includes original and arranged Eschatos tracks plus the Judgement Silversword score, with unreleased and cut material that's never been available before. The miniature replica WonderSwan box, laminated desk pad, WS cartridge label stickers, and four mosaic mini posters round things out. For Switch collectors building a SHMUP library, 1,400 copies of a three-game set this significant is the definition of a cornerstone pickup.
