Enslaved Odyssey to the West Collector's Edition
REGION 2

Ninja Theory's post-apocalyptic retelling of Journey to the West deserved better than it got at retail, and the Enslaved Odyssey to the West Collector's Edition on Playstation 3 is proof that someone at Namco Bandai believed in it enough to give it a premium treatment.

This Collector's Edition packs a hardcover art book and a soundtrack CD alongside the game. The art book is where the real value lives. Enslaved is one of the most visually distinctive games of the PS3 generation, trading the usual browns and grays of post-apocalyptic settings for lush overgrowth and vibrant color. Seeing that design philosophy laid out in print, from early concept sketches to final renders, is genuinely rewarding. The soundtrack CD preserves Nitin Sawhney's score, a moody and cinematic companion piece that elevated every moment of Monkey and Trip's journey.

Enslaved is the definition of a cult classic. It reviewed well, sold poorly, and has been quietly climbing collector wishlists ever since. The Collector's Edition was a limited run during a period when PS3 shelves were already crowded with bigger franchises, meaning copies didn't linger long and most ended up in the hands of people who actually cared about the game. That's the best kind of provenance for a collector's item. This one was bought with intention, and finding a complete copy with both the art book and soundtrack intact is the kind of hunt that makes collecting worthwhile.
