The Deus Ex Human Revolution Augmented Edition for Xbox 360 is the sweet spot between the standard release and the full collector's treatment. You get a bonus mission, a making-of DVD, the game soundtrack, a motion comic, and a 40-page art book. Five extras, zero filler.

The motion comic is the standout oddity here. Not a printed comic, not a full animation, but that hybrid format that had a brief, fascinating moment in the late 2000s and early 2010s. It adds narrative context to Human Revolution's world in a medium that feels appropriately cyberpunk.

The soundtrack is another highlight. Michael McCann's score for Human Revolution became iconic almost immediately, all brooding synths and tension, and having it on physical media means you own it independent of any streaming platform's licensing whims. The making-of DVD and art book round out the package with the kind of production insight that reminds you how much craft went into this game's visual identity.

Eidos Montreal built a world dripping with intentional design choices, and the art book, even at 40 pages, captures the philosophy behind those gold-tinted corridors and mechanical limbs. The Augmented Edition didn't demand the investment of the Collector's Edition, but it delivered the essentials that aging well demands: music, art, and context. Complete copies with the DVD and soundtrack disc still present are the ones worth pursuing.
