Some games punish you for playing them. Dark Souls II made that punishment feel like a badge of honor, and the Dark Souls II Black Armor Edition on Xbox 360 wraps that masochistic pride in cold, unforgiving steel. Released in Canada in March 2014, this edition swaps the standard plastic case for a proper metal case that looks like something an Undead knight would carry into the Throne of Want.

Inside you'll find the game disc alongside a Soundtrack CD, letting you relive every harrowing boss encounter and eerie corridor through Motoi Sakuraba's score without actually risking your sanity. There's something deeply satisfying about holding a metal case that feels as heavy and deliberate as the combat system itself.

The Xbox 360 era gave us some of the finest SteelBook and metal case variants in collecting history, and this one sits comfortably among them. Dark Souls II arrived during that sweet spot when disc-based special editions still meant something tangible. No download codes masquerading as bonus content. Just metal, music, and misery.

For Souls collectors, the Black Armor Edition represents a clean, understated piece that doesn't try too hard. It lets the game's brutal reputation do the talking while your shelf does the flexing. If you've already died a thousand deaths in Drangleic, you might as well own the version that looks like it survived a few of them.
