They put a drone in the box. An actual, functioning, remote-controlled Quadrotor Drone with its own stand. The Call of Duty Black Ops II Care Package Edition on Xbox 360 remains one of the most audacious collector's editions of the entire seventh console generation, and it earned that reputation by refusing to play it safe.

The Quadrotor Drone is the obvious showpiece, a working RC aircraft pulled straight from Black Ops II's near-future setting and packaged like military hardware. It sits on its display stand like a piece of tactical equipment, blurring the line between toy, collectible, and conversation piece in a way that few gaming editions have ever managed. Alongside the drone, a SteelBook case gives the game itself the premium metal treatment, while two collectible challenge coins add that military-authentic weight collectors have come to expect from the Black Ops franchise.

The official soundtrack, composed by Jack Wall with Trent Reznor handling the theme, completes the set. Reznor scoring a Call of Duty game was one of those unexpected crossover moments that defined the era, and having it on disc means it's yours permanently, not subject to licensing agreements and streaming catalogs.

This was peak Xbox 360 collector culture. The console wars demanded escalation, and Activision answered by shipping functional technology inside a game box. The Care Package Edition didn't just set a bar for Call of Duty special editions. It set a bar for the entire industry. Years later, collectors still reference this as the moment things got truly ambitious.
