Battlefield 2 veterans, this one was made specifically for us. The Battlefield 3 Limited Edition on Xbox 360 wrapped DICE's triumphant return in a package that honored the franchise's PC roots while delivering it to the console generation that needed it most.

The four reimagined Battlefield 2 maps are the entire selling point, rebuilt from the ground up in Frostbite 2 technology. Classic weapons and vehicles from BF2 made the jump as well, bridging the gap between the series' PC heritage and its console future. The additional achievements gave completionists more reasons to grind, and on the 360, achievement hunting was practically a sport.

This Limited Edition captures a pivotal moment for the franchise. Battlefield 3 was EA's declaration of war against Modern Warfare 3, and the marketing blitz was relentless. Owning the Limited Edition meant you were picking a side in the biggest console rivalry of 2011. The Back to Karkand content essentially doubled the game's map count at launch, and having that baked into a physical disc-era package feels almost quaint by today's standards.
