Batman: Arkham Asylum (Limited Edition)
REGION 2

Some games let you be the hero. This one lets you be the Batman. The Batman: Arkham Asylum Limited Edition on Playstation 3 arrived with a cardboard sleeve and an included poster, turning an already legendary release into something worth hunting down. For PS3 collectors, this is a console wars era gem from the period when physical media still meant something.

Rocksteady's debut Batman game basically rewrote the rulebook on superhero gaming. Before Arkham Asylum, we all just sort of accepted that comic book tie-ins were going to be mediocre at best. Then this showed up and made every other action game sweat. The combat system alone changed the genre forever, and the Metroidvania-style exploration of the asylum grounds gave it legs well beyond the main story.

What makes this Limited Edition worth tracking down is the UK exclusivity. This was an HMV-only release, which means the supply was limited to a single retail chain in a single region. That poster tucked inside isn't just decoration. It's proof of provenance. A lot of collectors slept on PS3 special editions during that generation, focused instead on the flashier boxed sets. But these retailer exclusives are the ones that quietly vanish from circulation. The cardboard sleeve adds that extra layer of shelf distinction, separating it from the millions of standard copies floating around. If you're building out a PS3 Batman collection, this is the understated piece that ties it all together.
