Assassin's Creed: Unity Special Edition
Ubisoft11/13/2014

The base-level entry into Assassin's Creed Unity's collector ecosystem, the Assassin's Creed: Unity Special Edition on PC delivered a single bonus mission that added genuine narrative depth to Arno's revolution. This is the edition that came with The Chemical Revolution, a mission centered on helping Antoine Laurent de Lavoisier, the so-called Father of Modern Chemistry, escape his kidnappers and recover a poison bomb formula.

Thirty minutes of extra gameplay doesn't sound like much on paper, but this was 2014, when bonus missions in special editions still felt like real, curated content rather than carved-out chunks of the main game. The Chemical Revolution ties directly into the French Revolution setting, weaving real historical figures into Arno's story in a way that made the world feel lived-in and researched. Lavoisier wasn't just a random NPC. He was a man whose actual history was stranger than most fiction, and Ubisoft used him well here.

For PC collectors, the Special Edition is a clean, focused package. No oversized boxes, no shelf-space negotiations. Just the game with a meaningful slice of additional content baked in. It's the version you grab when you want more than the standard release but don't need a figurine staring at you from your desk. Every Unity collection needs a starting point, and for PC, this is it.
