Windjammers 2
Windjammers is back, and it brought a real disc this time. The Windjammers 2 physical edition for Nintendo Switch comes complete with manual and reversible cover, giving one of gaming's most unexpectedly competitive franchises the tangible treatment it earned through sheer force of fun.
The original Windjammers turned a simple concept, competitive frisbee with special moves, into one of the most addictive multiplayer experiences on the NEOGEO. The sequel doesn't reinvent that formula. It perfects it. New characters, new courts, hand-drawn animation that pops off the screen, and gameplay tight enough to sustain a tournament scene. On the Switch, it becomes the ultimate portable party starter, the game you pull out when someone says "just one more round" and means it twelve times.
The reversible cover is a nice touch for display-conscious collectors who like options, and the included manual is a callback to an era when physical games came with actual reading material. In a digital-first world, having Windjammers 2 on a Switch cartridge with proper packaging feels like a small act of rebellion. This is a franchise that thrived in arcades, survived decades of obscurity through cult devotion, and came back stronger. It deserves to sit on a shelf, not hide in a download queue.
