Trouble Witches Final: Episode 1 - Daughters of Amalgam - Special Edition (PlayStation 4)
Strictly Limited Games

The cute 'em up genre has always been shmup collecting's best-kept secret, and this is its crown jewel. Trouble Witches Final: Episode 1, Daughters of Amalgam Special Edition for PlayStation 4 collects nearly two decades of refinement into one definitive physical package. From the same developer behind Cotton Reboot, this bullet-hell gem features twelve playable witches, a Magic Circle mechanic that turns enemy bullets into gold, and enough modes to keep score chasers busy for years.

The Special Edition is where collectors should be paying attention. You get a custom-designed collector's box, a history artbook packed with concept artwork and development materials tracing the series' evolution from its 2007 origins, and a complete original soundtrack. The real headline here is the Cute Witches DLC included exclusively in this edition, which grants access to all twelve character routes, including Cotton herself. That's a character and content set you simply cannot get in the standard release.

Each witch plays fundamentally differently, with unique familiars, magic systems, and attack styles that transform how you approach the game's six stages of danmaku chaos. The Magic Circle mechanic, where you slow incoming bullets and convert them to currency for the Pumpkin Shop's magic cards, gives Trouble Witches a strategic layer most bullet-hell games can't touch. Add in Arcade Mode, Walpurgis Night Mode, Score Attack, Endless, Boss Attack, and a faithful AC Mode reproducing the original arcade experience, and you're looking at a PS4 disc with absurd replay value. Hand-drawn 2D character art against remastered 3D environments makes this one look as good on display as it does in motion.
