Tiny Thor - Mjölnir Edition (Nintendo Switch)
Strictly Limited Games

Sometimes the best things come in tiny packages with massive hammers. The Tiny Thor Mjolnir Edition for Nintendo Switch is a Strictly Limited Games exclusive limited to just 4,000 individually numbered copies worldwide, complete with a colorful game manual and region-free cartridge. This is 16-bit platforming worship done right, and it knows exactly what it's worshipping.

Tiny Thor is a love letter written in pixel-perfect ink by artist Henk Nieborg, with a soundtrack from the legendary Chris Hülsbeck, whose work has been rattling around in our heads since the Amiga days. The game nails that feeling of discovering a hidden gem at the rental store, except this one was built with decades of hindsight about what made those classics tick. Ricocheting hammer throws off walls and into enemies, over 30 handcrafted levels across three realms, and boss fights that demand you actually learn their patterns. No hand-holding.

What makes this edition especially sweet for collectors is the bonus inclusion of Hammer Kid, the quasi-predecessor to Tiny Thor. It's a simpler 16-bit pixel art platformer with 40 levels across four worlds, and getting both games on one cartridge feels like finding a B-side that's almost as good as the single. You also get a download code for the full Hülsbeck soundtrack via Bandcamp, so you can own those tunes properly.

With only 4,000 copies in existence, this is the kind of numbered Switch cartridge that sits on a shelf and quietly appreciates while you're not looking. A gorgeous retro platformer with genuine pedigree, wrapped in the kind of limited physical release we live for.
