Tales of Xillia 2 Day One Edition

The JRPG sequel that proved Bandai Namco wasn't done surprising us. The Tales of Xillia 2 Day One Edition on Playstation 3 landed in Europe in August 2014 with an exclusive Metalcase and a curated selection of special soundtrack tracks picked by the development team themselves. For a series that thrives on its devoted fanbase, this was exactly the kind of launch-day treatment collectors expect.
That Metalcase is the centerpiece. PS3-era steelbooks and metal cases have aged beautifully as display pieces, and the Tales series artwork translates perfectly to a metallic finish. The dev-selected soundtrack tracks add a personal touch that generic "bonus disc" inclusions rarely achieve. Knowing the creators hand-picked those compositions gives the whole package a sense of intentionality.
Day One Editions are inherently finite. Once launch week passes, they're gone. The European release window for Tales of Xillia 2 was already niche by Western standards, so the pool of these in circulation was never enormous to begin with. If you're building out a Tales collection on PS3, this Metalcase variant is a cornerstone piece that earns its spot front and center on the shelf.
