FMV games are the vinyl records of the gaming world. Misunderstood in their time, worshipped by the right collectors now. Switch Limited Run #87: Corpse Killer Collector's Edition for Nintendo Switch brings Digital Pictures' gloriously campy 1994 zombie shooter back from the dead with a package that respects the source material's B-movie soul.

The collector's edition includes the game, a behind-the-scenes booklet, the original project script, a reversible 18" x 24" poster, and an official 2-disc soundtrack. That behind-the-scenes booklet and project script are the real draw here. FMV games were wild productions, essentially low-budget films fused with interactive mechanics, and getting a look at how Corpse Killer was actually made adds a layer of appreciation that most collector's editions can't offer.

The 2-disc soundtrack is generous for a game most people have either never heard of or remember renting once on Sega CD. Corpse Killer isn't going to win any game-of-the-year retrospectives, but that's not the point. It's a time capsule from an era when the industry genuinely believed live-action video was the future of gaming.

For Switch collectors who keep a dedicated section for the weird, the wonderful, and the wonderfully weird, #87 belongs right at the front.
