Kyoko and Misako are coming to rescue their boyfriends, and they're bringing an absurd amount of collectible extras along for the ride. Switch Limited Run #45: River City Girls Classic Edition for the Nintendo Switch is limited to just 2,500 copies worldwide on a region-free physical cartridge, and it's packed like a time capsule from River City High.

The Classic Edition goes deep on in-universe authenticity. You're getting a reversible 18 x 24 inch poster, an expanded 2-disc CD soundtrack, a commemorative retro NES cartridge (non-functional, but the shelf presence is undeniable), VIP Noize concert tickets, school ID cards for Kyoko and Misako, a heart locket for Hasebe and Mami, a menu from Merv's Burgers, a kidnapper Polaroid photo, and a set of six character art cards. This isn't a collector's edition that throws in a steelbook and calls it a day. Every insert feels like it was pulled from a locker at River City High.

WayForward and Arc System Works built River City Girls as a love letter to the Kunio-kun beat-em-up legacy, and this Classic Edition reflects that reverence. The fake NES cartridge alone is a nod that bridges decades of brawler history, connecting the Switch release back to the 8-bit roots where River City Ransom started it all.

At 2,500 units with a two-per-customer limit, these were scarce before the shipping boxes even arrived. The beat-em-up revival community and the Limited Run completionist crowd both had their sights locked on this one. That Venn diagram overlap means supply evaporated fast. If you've got one, the whole package spreads across a shelf like a diorama of the game itself.
