The stars have aligned, all 108 of them. Suikoden 1 & 2 HD Remaster on PlayStation 5 brings two of the most revered JRPGs in history back to PlayStation hardware, and given the original games' deep roots on PS1, this feels like a homecoming.

Collectors who grew up hunting for Suikoden II on PlayStation know the pain. That black-label copy became a white whale, one of the most expensive discs in the entire PS1 library. For years, the only way to experience these games physically was to pay collector-market prices that would make your eyes water. Now we've got both titles remastered and sitting on a PS5 shelf, and the symmetry of having Suikoden back on a PlayStation console is hard to ignore.

The PS5 version carries a specific appeal for display-focused collectors. Sony's current-gen cases have a clean, uniform look that photographs well, and a title with this much historical significance deserves that premium presentation. Konami took their time with this remaster, and the result is a package that respects what made these games matter in the first place.
