Snow Battle Princess Sayuki Special Limited Edition (PS4)

PLAYSTATION 4
Snow Battle Princess Sayuki Special Limited Edition (PS4)
Strictly Limited Games

A plush snow bunny, a mochi recipe card, and one of the most fascinating "what if" stories in gaming history. The Snow Battle Princess Sayuki Special Limited Edition for PlayStation 4 is a Strictly Limited Games exclusive capped at just 500 individually numbered copies worldwide. Five hundred. That number alone should tell you everything about the scarcity we're dealing with.

Sayuki started life as a Kiki Kaikai/Pocky and Rocky sequel before Taito's merger with Square Enix left it orphaned. Developer Starfish refused to let their work die, stripped the licensed elements, and released it as its own IP. What survived was the tight, aggressive top-down shooter gameplay the series was known for, expanded with a combo meter and snow magic system that rewards players who stay on the offensive.

The Special Limited Edition box is packed. You get the game, a colorful manual, a high-quality Toto plush of Sayuki's snow bunny familiar, an enemy sticker sheet featuring the yokai roster, a reversible poster, the original soundtrack on CD in a jewel case, a six-card art set showcasing in-game event scenes, and a mochi snow bunny recipe card that's honestly one of the most charming pack-ins we've seen. The Toto plush ships separately from the box due to its size.

This is a game that sat in relative obscurity while its spiritual siblings commanded collector premiums for years. The hand-drawn-meets-pixel-art visual style still holds up, and the two-player co-op with Sayuki's sister Koyuki adds replay value. At 500 copies on PS4, this is the rarest version of a game most collectors haven't discovered yet. That window won't stay open forever.
